Future CM 590 Owner, Tips needed

I just ordered the CM 590 and I was wondering a few things.

I was wondering if you can put 80mm's on the front or is it strictly 120mm?

What are some tips on keeping it clean?

What are some good ways to get the best out of the airflow?

I was thinking...

Intake fans:
3 on the front, 2 on the side

Exhaust fans:
2 on the top, 1 on the back, 1 on the side behind the motherboard
 
I would avoid all the fans on the side and just have front to back airflow, with maybe an exhaust or two at the top. That fan behing the motherboard wouldn't be too bad though.
 
Well my logic is that i already have the fans from a past build so I might aswell use them.

Also, why does it not have a restart button?
 
I wouldn't bother with the 80mm fans - they're noisy. And nine fans in the 590 seems excessive. I have the 690 with a total of three fans installed (front/rear/top) and it cools very well. I could do without the top fan but I have an Accelero S1 installed passively and with the top fan installed my GPU idle/gaming temps dropped 3c/7c respectively. Take your time during installation to route your cabling cleanly - it will help with airflow.

As for keeping the 590 clean, keep it off the floor otherwise it's more likely to suck in dust, pet hair, etc. I have my 690 on a cabinet that sits about desk height and have no problems with dust.

Other then that, enjoy the 590. It looks like a great case.
 
Actually, I got a 80mm 6 pack of CM fans roughly 2 years ago. The 6 pack was like $9 on newegg but wow am I impressed. I can't hear them at all and they seem like they move a lot more then 28cfm. So due to the fact that I can't hear them at all, I might aswell throw them in there because it won't be any worse. The only "good" fan I have is a 120mm Rosewill fan that moves like 87CFM and is pretty silent, other then that I have a stock fan that my friend got with his Raidmax case aswell as the 2 stock fans that come with it.

Also, I ordered my CM 590 this morning around 11am (east) and it's still on step 1. I used Paypal to pay and it hasn't been charged yet which surprises me. Saturday I bought an e2180 + Giga p35 and it's been on Step 5 since this morning.
 
Where do I get my case standoffs? Do the gigabyte P35 or the CM 590 come with them?
 
the case comes with the screws.
how hard is it to wire up a reset button inside the case? (rhetorical) we hardly use them anyway.
the front is completely filtered, it helps with cleanliness.
as for fans, the front can only hold a single 120 or 80mm. anything past the stock fan you need to rig yourself. (note zip ties on middle bays) :eek:
as for airflow: here is mine:

air in: 2x120 front, 1x140 side (yate loons)
air out: 2x140 top 1x120 rear (yate loons)
all are at lowest setting on zm-mfc1
should be silent and cool.

i'd really recommend getting 120mm fans. they're like $3 a piece for the yate loon d12sl's.
 
Wait, I thought you could have 3 120's on the front? From the Company picture it looks like they have 3 Blue LED's on the front.

and when you say "the case comes with screws", by screws did you mean the Motherboard Studs? They're usually brass (golden colord).
 
yeah, it comes with the standoffs/studs

you have to figure, 3 120mm fans are 9 bays tall. the case only has 9 bays to begin with.. add a mfc or an optical drive and you cant fit the top one. i'll grab a quick pic in a few....

no problem. you can easily set something up where the third fan is staggered, as in further back in the case, angled upward, but still pulling air from the front...
 
I could probably rig something up so my 80mm fit in there somehow.
 
yep. if its a thin 80mm you can put it on the back side of the mobo.... there is room for it there.
 
Oh btw, I ordered the "closed corner model" of the yate loons, what's the difference between the 2 models and which one sohuld I have ordered?

So which would be the better choice?

Yeah and faster...

I bought my Case from newegg at 11am and they've yet to charge it (therefore they can't ship it), I bought the fans (from jab tech) 15 minutes ago and they charged me like 5 minutes ago.
 
jab tech is automated i think, and newegg is closed on sundays.
neither would ship until monday either way. :)
 
dunno, but my huge rig purchase was from newegg and jabtech, for that reason.

The open corners are generally more compatible, depending on HSF mounts and such. Most cases it doesn't matter, though.
 
@import: have you painted your case yourself or got it done professionally? It looks well kewl! Also wanted to ak how you have mounted your PSU, fan facing downwards or upwards?

I asked him the same question about the paint. He said he did it himself. He did a good job. Makes me want to try. ;)

i painted it. spray bombed it on my deck. haha. the psu is facing down, but the ass end of my case hangs off a nightstand, so it has really good flow.
 
Will the "XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm CPU Cooler" fit in the CM 590?

They seem like the best thing to get because i'd like to OC my e2180 to 3.3ghz atleast.
 
my tuniq tower is about an inch from the side panel.
if that helps.
 
k, after looking into it the tuniq is 153mm(6 inchs) deep while the Xigmatek 159mm(6.3inchs) deep. So I should be fine.

Fits in mine, you'll have to remove the higher side fan. Clears the side panel by about an 1''
 
Yep, I had mine in the 690 (same basic shell as the 590) - fits just fine... Just don't expect to use a side panel fan in that location as Veratek noted.
 
The design of this case uses a 120 in the front mounted on a hard drive mounting bay insert. but with the case it might be possible to mod an 80 but I would stick with the 120 imo.

Cleaning is easy, the front is a mesh/filter and does trap a lot of dust. on the outside it a matter of wiping the dust off the mesh bay covers, as for the filters just pull the front bezel off and you compress air to blow out and clean. the rest of the case just use what is needed to clean and blow out.

Air flow in this case is very good. as the front of the case has a open mesh and push pull though the case. even for now i only have the one 120 on the front and the one in the back. the power supply pulls are from the outside and blows it out the back. and heat that rises just goes out the top of the case. no side fans. however you can add the fans for even more flow and prolly get temps down more.
