Can anyone tell me if there is any way to get a VmWare virtual machine that I created in Fusion on a Mac to work under VmWare workstation on a windows PC?

Do I have to convert the virtual machine somehow?

Should work pretty much as-is, IIRC. If not, run it through vmware converter.

Upgrading
You might not want to upgrade a virtual machine because you want it to remain
compatible with other VMware products you are using. Following is a brief summary
of VMware product version compatibility.

4.x GSX Server 3.x, VMware Server 1.x and 2.0, ESX Server 2.x and 3.x,
VMware Fusion 1.1 and 2.0, and ACE 1.x, 2.0, and 2.5

You can run older versions of virtual machines in Workstation 6.5, but you will not have

Thanks guys.
I'll have to compare the pros and cons of converting later so I now know to keep a fusion copy in case I decide to go back to the Mac to host the VM.

For now though I was able to get the Windows VM to work on Workstation by deleting the LCK files.

As for the Ubuntu VM I was trying to migrate, I had to use the converter. Nothing I tried would make it work, but the conversion was quick and worked perfectly.

Mind you these are very basic VMs and consist of OS and one apache server. I don't know how well this would work from someone virtualizing a windows server or anything heavy like that.

As a side note, I used the converter locally on a live windows machine to make it into a VM and it worked flawlessly. In case anyone was wondering.
