Fury X VRMs Temps a Concern?

Sorry Guys, I haven't been able to get an answer. :confused:

I'm debating on buying this card just because of the VRMs temps hitting 100C out of the box.

How high can VRMs temps go?
Is this something that could damage the card in the short/long run?
 
This might be why they're afraid to unlock voltage
 
VRM can go as high as 125. However, heat kills longevity.

This is the G1 under stress. All things being equal, wouldn't you go for the cooler card?

I believe it's with the cover off.

Those G1 temps are nice. Is that the Gigabyte GTX-980Ti G1? Nice!

I wanted to buy that card but nowhere to be found ATM :(

980ti not 680ti :p

It is a very nice card, guru 3d were getting overclocks up to 1550mhz in game. The card from the looks of their review stayed pretty cool even when over clocked.

The new asus version should be coming soon too as well as the HOF if you like white pcb's.

Yup, I have it preordered. G1 had the best cooling solution last gen, and it appears to be the same again.
 
The Fury X thermal imaging is no good. The G1 image measured the exposed portion which goes up to 75. The backplate is always cool (blue). However, for the Fury, all they did was measure the shroud which means nothing. Meanwhile, the components baking inside wasn't even measured.
 
I was going to mention that Titan X memory. It's more worrisome on memory than on the VRMs. 100C VRMs is not totally abnormal. I would do something about it before OC'ing. Just like the memory on my Titan X's before OC'ing, I spent $10 and put some heatsinks on.

While your statement is most likely true you'd think the heat would of transferred through a bit more.

Holy shit at the VRMs on that thing. I wish the Titan X's came with that setup.

I'm more frightened by Tom's Hardware's thermals. They didn't take off the backplate but 89C on the mobo pins? http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-radeon-r9-fury-x,4196-8.html
