So my server has been having a lot of trouble. First the P3 933 in it keeps crashing, so I had to downclock it to 700. Then the hard drive keeps giving a boot error whenever it tries to start up. Finally, the PSU completely gives out so I can't even use it.
I just got around to ordering a replacement Antec Original 300w ($33.50) off Newegg (along with some other stuff). Pop it in, get everything hooked up, and on a hunch, I retry all the things I was having problems with. P3 933 boots up fine and works without a hitch. HDD not only boots up, but goes all the way into Windows (except for the damned "evaluation of this OS (win2k3 server) has expired error, it booted fine), and is now about a minute away from being done installing Win2k3 on it again.
So the moral of this post is, as has been said by many posters before me, never overlook the power supply, even when it doesn't seem like that's the cause, because agood power supply holds the system together.
