Funny marketing slides

Eh. I've seen worse. Like on ATIs main webpage where they declared the XTPE the fastest card in the world by comparing it to the 5950U. Ya...have to say, that was defintely fuddier than this.

Or when Nvidia compared screenshots of far cry using ps1.1 compared to ps3.0 to show the advantages of 3.0. There are many examples for both companies.

They do have a point about the 9250 though, who in their right mind's would buy one, but basing the x700 comparision solely on doom 3 is dumb(but what else would they do o_O)

I like the slide that says the x700 runs 112% slower, thereby rendering negative frames per second, as compaired to the 6600.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, running 100% faster means running twice as fast. So 112% should mean a tad faster than double.

English and Math don't mix well. Math and stupid people don't mix at all.

Edit: Googled around and found an example [unrelated as it might be]. PPC 970 mono 1.4 is 112% faster than a Dual 1.42 GHz. This was the captioning to the following image:

http://www.macbidouille.com/news/photonews14/bryce5.jpg

As you can tell from that image, 7FPS to 16FPS...there's your 112% faster. The 100% refers to 7FPS as it's frame of reference, it isn't a comparision between 7 and 16 itself [ie, you're not dividing the two numbers as you typically would to derive a percentage].

Now you might want to inform the horde of mathematically inept larva at Rage about this.

I know what they meant; I just thought it was funny that the verbatim they choose is structured wrong, being marketing slides and all.

It isn't structured wrong [oh gee, that was kinda the entire point of my last post, yeesh]. People need to go learn some math. Having a helping heap of English wouldn't kill them either.

batman, can you solve this problem then...

card A is rendering 100fps, card B is 112% slower. how many fps is card b rendering ?
