funky USB plug on WD external drive getting unreliable

I have a WD Black 4 TB USB drive that I don't use that much, Regardless the funky "w" USB plug is getting very unreliable. Cable falls out all the time. I sometimes need to wiggle the cable to get a good connection. I'm just blowing off steam here. Only a matter of time before I need to shuck the drive and put it into another case.

So what's a good 4 TB external drive (except Seagate) that isn't overpriced?

It's a usb 3.0 micro-B connector, if I'm thinking of the right one, fwiw. Probably just need a new cable -- the tabs on those tend to get pushed down and flattened, but the port is usually fine if the solder hasn't failed.

I think your right about the connector. I am not home now, so I don't have any other 3.0 micro-b cables. I'll try a different cable at home. Personally I think this micro-b connector is a lousy design. What were they thinking. USB 4 (?) rounded corner connector is much better.

Cost, probably already were sourcing that connector. Also is backwards compatible with just regular micro usb which tons of people already had those cables laying around when that drive came out.

Sure, but now I'm not so happy with any WD USB drive that I can't see in a store.
