So I get home from a LAN party, hook my UPS back in(Using surge port on my primary UPS), turn it on and sparks fly. Thankfully, I had not connected any equipment yet. Tried UPS again with no AC connected and it gives a red light and contunuous tone. When I moved it out of the way so I could connect my other equipment back up I noticed that something was rattling around inside. So I opened up the front service panel to find that three MOSFETs(FQP50N06) had exploded. After turning the ups face forward to get whatever was rattling around out, along with the piece of a MOSFET I found a screw on the carpet, but I can't be sure that it was from the UPS and it has no beads on it indicating it was the cause of a high voltage arc.

Waiting for my RMA # from Belkin.

hmm.. reminds me of a couple weeks ago when one of the older UPS's started.. smoking. Of course they bring it up to the IS department, so it smelled like burning plastic for the whole day ><
