So I just inherited 10x 32gb Intel SSD's to play with from work. I can't sell them per the deal I made with the boss... but I can Raid them for a games drive on my rig!
So the question is... what PCI Express controller card should I try to get a hold of that can handle 10x SATA drives?!. I'll basically be double sided sticking these guys all over the case which is gonna be fun.
Money isn't an issue on this card as long as it doesn't go above $700. I have a spin drive raid array I want to move to a controller card soon so I'll probably swap 4x 1tb drives over to the new controller card after playing with the SSD's in Raid0 and 5 to test speeds. I'll probably leave 5x32gbs of the SSDs in the card and then move the other to my other computers for OS drives/arrays.
Anyways lets play! My searching on newegg is showing a lot of SAS cards. Can I hook up more than 4 hds to a SAS to SATA tether cable? SAS is kinda new to me and I am excited to play around.
I'll get some pics of the drives so we can all drool at them.
