I'm running an e8400 on an IP35 Pro, and the case they're in is an Antec 900. Which would be a suggested fan/heatsink for this? I'd prefer something capable, but not overly loud...I've heard great things about the Tuniq Tower 120, aside from a few complaints about it being noisy, which I'd find somewhat bothered. I've heard good things about the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme as well, but not much about how it is in terms of volume. Which'd be a good choice overall, for both heatsink and fan (if the heatsink doesn't come with one)?

Your choices are very close in performance but the Ultra 120 is rated slightly better in the test I’ve seen. The Ultra comes without fans so you have some extra costs. I know people that use the Ultra’s with two fans this allows you to use quieter fans and keep the air flow high.

I use the Ultra-90 with two fans on E6550 40%OC to 3.3Mhz and have no heat problems.

As for fans I like the Panaflo line. My Ultra-90 uses 92mm fans and you would need 120mm fans so I don’t know the model numbers.

Between the 2 i would prefer the Ultra 120 (6 heatpipes) if price is not a criteria. I picked the Tower 120 (4 heatpipes) because it was more VFM for a marginal difference in temps. Also, it comes with a regulator/rheostat for fan speed adjustment from 1200 to 2100rpm.

On a sidenote, check out the Thermalright Ultima 90i ... its been getting some great reviews. Its a 6 heatpipe design like the Ultra 120 but cheaper.

The Thermaltake U120 appears like it would have to be mounted 90 degree turned in a 580i board because of the big nb hs. And that wouldnt work for me, I need the HS to blow towards the back of the case. So , for that reason, I went with the Tuniq T120. and for fans, seems to be a few models recomended, but I went with the Scythe SFlex E. I'm less concerned with noise as I am with cooling better. Must....get..this ...damn qx6700....temps...lowered. Its a damn space heater, even at 1.26825, 3.2

I also got a Sflex F to replace my case exhaust fan. total for those three items; Tuniq, and 2 scythe fans.. $100 ish including overnight fedex from the newegg.
