I currently have a Silverstone TJ-09B and it's a very nice case. However the cooling is not that great with the cards I have installed (8800GTX, HVR-1600 Tuner, Areca ARC-1231ML Raid, Adaptec 29160 SCSI. My Areca card runs at 67C and that's the board temperature. If I put another fan in the case to blow over the cards, it drops down quite a bit. Also my hard drive cooling with six 750gb drives in the bays is pretty poor. Other than those issues, I really like the case.
First off, let me preface that my new requirement over the TJ-09 is that I have seven 5.25" drive bays accessible externally. I'm thinking about going with a case with direct cooling of the PCI cards. The Coolermaster Stacker 830 Evo and 832 are on my list. Also the Lian-Li PC2000 Plus II, Silverstone TJ-07, and the Tegan Aplus Black Pearl, the Lian LI PC-V2100B Plus II, and any other suggestion you guys can offer.
I want the system to be quiet and already have a large assortment of S-FLEX fans in 120mm. I want good cooling and I need space for eight hard drives. Now my plan is to install two 5 x 3 Supermicro SATA hot swap bays to hold a total of 10 drives, eight of which will be in use at the start with room to grow. If you look at my sig, you'll see I run an Areca controller with 12 channels. I'll be adding two more 750gb drives in the next couple of weeks, but instead of using internal bays I want to make the disks hot swappable. So that means my requirement for 3.5" bays is not as important as the 5.25" bays. All the models listed above would allow me to install two 5 x 3's and a DVD-RW.
I don't have a set budget - I'll buy whatever suits my needs. Any advice is very much welcomed.
