Seagate has had the Savvio out for a while now - they must have secured some design wins and made the other SCSI makers sit up and take notice. Those drives really are a marvel - about the size of a deck of cards with 10K SCSI performance. The Savvio is actually one of the better 10K drives in server performance with its extremely short seeks in terms of spatial distance.
They are also quite correct that you get more spindles per unit of rack space, what they don't mention is that you don't get more spindles per dollar
