This looks like an amazing deal 234$ after rebate at newegg but im hesitant to buy with no professional reviews to be found. I noticed quite a few of you have bought them please tell me if its a mistake to buy a virtually unknown brand. I also noticed a few people with contrast problems.

Reviews, even if done by "professional" sites are very subjective when it comes to displays. If you are looking for a budget 19" LCD, I don't think you can go wrong with the FP-988D. Read my first impressions on another thread.
 
Thanks for replying. After reading your impressions and others around hardforum i went ahead and bought it. Should be here this week. Hopefully ill have a good experience with my first LCD
