• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Hey there!
I need your help. I work in a lab and we need to give the clients the possiblity of downloading certificates of analysis done in our labs. We are talking about huges amounts of files in pdf format.
the idea is to give each client a user and password in order to access to an account where they can dowload new and older certificates. The thing is that it must be as secure as possible.
Any ideas or recomendations???

thanks a lot!!!!

If you want security, don't use regular FTP. FTP sends data in plain text.

You'll probably want either SFTP or FTP over TLS/SSL.

Though not it's intended purpose, Windows Home Server is wonderful for this.

I maintain all my downloads for my field tech's on a WHS share, and it is VERY secure. In fact WHS password requirements for any share accessible over the net are, um, strong :)

It is amazingly easy to maintain. My dog could do it. And management on my end is nothing more than putting the files I want available to them in the share. Done.

Thanks a lot for your replies.
There would be like 50 permanently active big users, and perhaps several other small users with very few files.
The thing is that i dont know in what solution to use, like for example the windows home server like Doliyiss said (tnks btw :D)

Ty.

For that many users you could run a secure ftp type setup or even something like windows sharepoint with https. With sharepoint or any other type of intranet software you can pretty much build web pages around the data files to make it more user friendly.

I would hold off until sever 2008 which has secure IIS. You'd probably save money rather than paying for something like Serve-U which will connect to an existing AD environment.

You could always look for a combined solution, like an SSLVPN solution and then either direct filesystem access, ftp within your network, etc.

There are plenty of good SSLVPN out on the web for free. It really comes down to how much work you are willing to do on the back-end for it to be secure and functional.

CesarFTP is a free app for ftp; its very basic and I'm not to into its security, but it is simple and works, too.

Thanks all for your responses.

The thing is that i dont know much about different options to implement secure ftp and that. Could you tell me some names of solutions so i can read about them.
