ftp question/problem?

I have ftp setup on my server and it works great when I try to access if locally. Just type in ftp://10.0.0.1 and voila!

Unfortunately from the outside it won't work... the BEST I can get it to do, is pop up and ask for username and password. If I type it in, it just sits and "thinks" for about a minute and says that the page cannot be displayed.

Running Server 2008 and using a peplink with port 21 being forwarded to the internal server 10.0.0.1

Any ideas??

You need to setup a passive port range and forward it in your router/fw.

yep, passive ports... as was mentioned... it's annoying

it's one of the reasons i just prefer installing filezilla and doing sftp...

Ok, I tried Filezilla and I get further... but Filezilla (on the server side) is saying entering passive mode (10.0.0.1.201.68)

Any ideas??

EDIT - And that number changes each time I try to connect... now it says "Entering Passive Mode (10,0,0,1,201,89)"
