I usually use SmartFTP for transferring whole sites to new servers. Tonight, a prime example, I downloaded 37MB of data from a server, and then tried to upload to the new one. I set the upload in motion, then went in the shower. I got back 20 minutes later and it had timed out. Is there an FTP program that will stop the timing out, or is this something controlled by the server?

I know of the NOOP command to leave a connection in place, but this doesn't work when a large number of files are instructed to upload. Thanks.

It depends on what it says before it disconnects you. You can try enabling the option 'send NOOPS during xfer' but that hardly ever helps. if it drops while you're xfering a file theres probably something wrong with your internet connection. FTP servers usually dont disconnect while you're transferring. If you use flashfxp it will reconnect and resume the upload if it's configured correctly. not sure if smartftp has the same option though...
