So I decided to purchase my FT01B-W case as well as the following:

Intel Core i7 920
Biostar TPowerX58
3GB Mushkin DDR3-1600 (gotta fix this part in the BIOS, the SPD is WAY off)
Silverstone ST70F (700W modular power supply)
640GB Western Digital hard drive
LG DVD-RW
ATI X800 Pro (very outdated, I know. I'll fix that when money becomes available. I had it around he house)

Something is shorting out. The problem is I don't know what. When it is all installed in the case, it does not turn on. When I say doesn't turn on I mean nothing turns on. No lights, no errors, no fans.

When I take it out, and put it all on a table, it works just fine.

Short of electrical taping the entire motherboard tray (which is powder coated anyway so I am not so sure that is the problem, what can I fix? I mean, maybe the standoffs are hitting something (poor motherboard design perhaps?) but I don't have any with a rubber grommet on them.

Any more ideas?
 
Thanks for the tip I will try that out tomorrow probably. I'll be sure to update.
 
Can you possibly use nylon standoffs? McMaster sells them. They work fine, they just aren't as sturdy. Don't gorilla wrench them and you're cool.
 
That's an idea as well. I think my buddy has some I might be able to get them off his case (his computer died and won't be building another one in a while).
 
Well, it is possible that an overzealous solder point or misplaced spot on the backside is causing a short on the standoffs themselves.
 
Got it working. I decided to go ahead and be on the safe side so I electrical taped the tops of the standoffs as well as the motherboard tray.

Took a while but now it's all installed and working perfectly.
 
it's a great case. mine was delivered the other day while i was hospitalized. when i feel better, i'll transfer everything from my v1200-b into the silverstone.
 
Anyone know if the Corsair 1000hx 1000w power supply will fit in this case?

That's when the troubles show up ;)

Routing wires is a pain in the ass for this case, but it was a pain in the ass in my SG03 and the SG01 I had before that so I'm kinda used to it. Plus I have 4 hot-swap adapters in there, so I'm sure that didn't help anything.
 
Do you have a spare set of front panel connectors?

Try starting it with another power switch. And leave all other pins out. Check for correct polarity of the switches.

I had the same issue once. For some reason, the PC would just emit a little, short "chirp" and not turn on at all. As it turned out, it was one of the front panel connectors that was not plugged in right.

Quick question related to the FT01B-W. I've got my new i7 system running in it and love it... but does it have an LED on the case for the HDD activity? I've got the HDD LED cable wired into the mobo but don't see anything.
 
Could be. The thing is, I don't see anything on the case exterior that looks like the actual LED. I don't see anything in the manual. The power LED seems like it could possibly do other things, maybe it blinks or lights up another color if the HDD LED cable is connected properly?
 
Potentially? I don't know, I don't own the case.

It'd just be silly to provide an HDD LED Cable with no plug, maybe you can take off the side-panels and see where the cable leads?
 
i think today may be the day i get around to transferring my rig into the FT01B-W. i haven't taken it out of the box yet but i feel up to getting things done today.

i haven't been to my brother's house since i built his rig for him so i'm not sure about this statement but isn't the hdd activity led on the top of the case near the usb slots? sorry if i'm incorrect about that but it's either the silverstone or a rig i build using a coolermaster case that had the led near the usb slots on the top of the case. heck, it hasn't been that long ago but i've been pretty ill lately so i don't remember minute stuff like that right now.
 
Okay, so I took the sides off and traced out the wire for the HDD LED. It runs to the front of the case right under the power button along with the Power LED. The Power LED cabel connects to a blue LED that is very bright, while the HDD LED connects to a red one right below it (basically touching it).

With the side off looking in, I can see the red LED lighting when the HDD accesses, but you can't see it from the outside of the case. Strange. I think mine is defective and not bright enough.
