"The FSP MEGA PM 1200 is a great showcase of FSP's in-house manufacturing, packing 1200 W of continuous quality power into a highly compact 150 mm enclosure. Built to satisfy the demanding ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards, it includes a native 12V-2x6 connector to comfortably handle top-tier graphics cards and aggressive power excursions without the need for adapters.

In terms of electrical performance, the PM 1200 shines where it counts most. Ripple control is exceptional across all rails, and voltage regulation is highly stable, with the 12 V rail settling on exactly 12.00 V under a full 100% load even when factoring in the resistance of the cables. Based on our real-world testing methods it does perform closer to a Gold rating than Platinum at 230 V, but the result was very respectable and efficiency remained high into heavier loads.

The component selection inside is excellent, with high-quality Japanese bulk capacitors, robust heat spreaders, and heavy-duty MOSFETs ensure longevity. Furthermore, FSP applies a conformal coating to the PCB to protect against high humidity, dust, and stains which is a rare feature in the consumer space, usually reserved for high-end flagship units or server grade models. Cooling is handled by a premium 135 mm FDB fan which stays completely silent at low-to-medium loads. We did experience a minor glitch where the fan failed to spin up during our initial 100% load test, requiring an ECO switch toggle and a power cycle to resolve, but once active, the fan profile remained very quiet, never exceeding 1000 RPM even under maximum stress.

At the price that this will likely be available for to end users, it should be strongly considered against similarly-priced alternatives such as the Corsair HX1200i and Seasonic VERTEX GX-1200, due to the premium build and component selection, strong performance and conformal coating. Since FSP are manufacturing these themselves and selling directly to end users, there is a whole section of the mark-up chain which is skipped, allowing them to come in at a very reasonable price.

Overall, the FSP MEGA PM 1200 is a compelling option for builders seeking a reliable, high-capacity ATX 3.1 power supply. While the individually textured cables can be tedious to manage and the 230 V efficiency is slightly lower than a pure Platinum rating would imply, the unit's stellar ripple suppression, quiet acoustics, industrial-grade coating, and 10-year warranty make it a highly dependable workhorse for any high-end system."
