Hi.
I'm trying to overclock my 64 3500+. I decided to try to use a 5:4 FSB:Memory ratio, as it seemed easy for a newcomer like me.
I can set "Memory Index Value" or something like that between 266MHz, 333MHz, 400MHz (my default) etc. If I set it to 333MHz, it's a 5:4 ratio, so I should put FSB to 240MHz and the memory would be 200MHz, right?
But it doesn't work - the memory is left at 188MHz, while the FSB is 240MHz. CPU-Z said in the memory tab that FSB: DRAM is CPU/14. Seems like it means that the memory MHz is the resulting CPU clock, which was 2640MHz, divided by 14. Hmm?
I went back to BIOS and set the FSB to the default 200MHz, and left Mem index value to 333MHz. The memory should now be really 166MHz, right? CPU-Z says it's 158MHz, and the ratio is still CPU/14.
So.. anyone have any idea why it's like that? Anything to do with the timings perhaps..?
Help is appreciated.
