I have a AMD Athlon XP 2600+ at 2.1Ghz and I have the FSB set at 170Mhz should I bump it up to a faster speed?

If you can get it stable and the ram can handle it go for it.

And welcome to [H]ard|Forum, hope ya have fun.

It should be able to but the memory ratio is also what bugs me Its 333 so I dont know what ratio to put it wheather 1:1 or whatnot

1:1 is always the fastest on AthlonXP setups.

Could someone please take a moment to explain to me what is meant by memory ratios. Also, what are memory timing settings. I looked for these items in my BIOS but all I found was the option to set these items at Optimal, Aggressive, and another option that escapes me now. Also, could you please explain the SPD or Auto Option? Lastly, if you are going to overclock your CPU, what should you do to memory settings (voltage, speed, etc..) to make sure things will be stable. Thanks in advance.

Memory ratios are ratios to the fsb. If the fsb is 250, and your ratio is 4:5, then your ram is running at 200. If you want to change your memory timings, then you go to "expert" and them change them. Lower values = less latency. If you are going to overclock the ram, then relax the timings, also, you can up the voltage a bit.
