This would make a good beater laptop. I bought this laptop used without a hard drive, the original hard drive had been thrown away after a failure. The laptop had been used for less than one year. I upgraded the RAM to 2 GB and added an 80 GB Seagate hard drive and it runs like a champ. I installed Ubuntu and was going to use it as a spare machine but I'm not going to have the time I thought I would to do so. The drive has been wiped.
It comes with Vista Home, however I have read where it is possible to find XP drivers for this laptop. Below are the specifications, and below that are pictures with descriptions of the laptop's condition:

The scratch is invisible on dark backgrounds:
It does show on a plain white background, however usually text on obscures it:
