Here's a long story short; I purchased everything brand new a year ago around this time. Prior to purchasing I did months of research for the best balance of hardware/specs (still is IMO) for my needs... anyway work and a 3yr old keep me extremely busy to the point I could not dedicate "free" time to a ZFS build - my lack of knowledge in solaris/nix had me researching everything. Wife was hounding me about her shows and movies and I hadn't done anything about it.
After putting it all together, work got busier, my then 1 yr old turned 2, and the word "free" got more limited.
I ended up buying a Synology DS-713+ for the convenience. In reality it has been more than enough for my use - I could only imagine my server being way overkill.
So here are the specs and pricing (shipped);
All that's remaining;
$175 - Intel Xeon E3-1230 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115083
$125 - Supermicro X9SCL+-F - http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/C202_C204/X9SCL_-F.cfm
$130 - 16GB Kingston ECC Ram - KVR1333D3E9SK2/8G - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139262
All three are in retail box with all manuals, cd's, etc...
In a perfect world I would like to keep as a whole and to a local sale however I understand the market for something like this might be extremely small. I will part out if I have buyers for everything. If you're out of the area, and looking to purchase as a whole you'll have priority over anyone else.
I'd be willing to meet considering the size of the purchase to the following counties in SoCal: LA County (anywhere off the 60/10 fwy's east of the 710), Riverside County (pretty much all of the IE and as for east as Indio/Palm Springs), Orange County (91Fwy area near Corona), San Bernardino (anywhere BUT the high desert), North San Diego (as close as possible to Temecula)
