selling a used xeon box, built from parts, $300:
SGI ATX rackmountable case, no rack ears included
FSP Group 700w EPS12v power supply
Tyan S2721-533UGN motherboard (specs here: http://tyan.com/product_board_detail.aspx?pid=55)
(1) 2.4 Ghz Xeon, low voltage part number (socket 604)
1 gig of corsair registered ECC memory, DDR 400

note that my board doesn't have the onboard SCSI thats indicated in the tyan specs, and note that the SATA controller shown in the pictures (as well as all the drives attached to it) are not for sale.

my comments:
i've been running this box as a file server, network simulation testbed, compile box for distcc, and general-purpose linux server for almost three years, and ive had absolutely no problems with it. all the hardware works out of the box on windows and linux. the 3 onboard network ports (two gigabit and one 10/100) are awesomely useful. the case can hold up to eight 5.25" drives (no 3.5" bays), which makes it great for the drive cages i have installed. in 3 years, i've never seen the box crash, hang, or do anything but sit quietly in my closet. the only reason i'm selling it is that i'm graduating, and i can't hold on to it anymore. it's quiet, the case is incredibly sturdy and well-built, and the power supply is brand new (upgraded from 500w to 700w less than a month ago to fit another pile of drives inside).
