Might consider partial trades of good DDR2 (at least 6400), a semi-high end video card, an AT&T compatible Android phone and maybe a 3DS or Vita.

Do you have any extra heat sinks for either CPU?
I have some good 1 GB sticks of DDR2, 4GB sticks of DDR3, and a 5770 or maybe even a 6870 video card.

Sorry, no heatsinks for either one. Yea I'd be interested in a partial trade, PM coming your way.

Back at everyone who PM'd. By the way as far as trades go, I'm looking for at least half in cash (paypal) with the rest in equal trade value. I'm not going to trade something that easily sells for more on the bay for a few sticks of old memory.

bump for some nice mobile C2D procs. Was really hoping you had a T7800 to upgrade my T7500 with. (PM me if you find one :))

glws!

rastaban, I believe any 800FSB socket P processor should work in that board, what kind of system is it?

Unfortunately, my notebook, the Asus U3S does not have any documentation on whether it supports Penryn chips. It was noted in one of the later BIOS updates that the T7800 was supported but then there were no further updates on chip support. I know that similar systems did have BIOS updates so it may be necessary. As much as I would like to try a Penryn in it, the risk of the chip not being compatible isn't worth the cost on such an old system :(

rastaban, I know ASUS support isn't anywhere near as good as Dell support... but when I called Dell to ask them if a Core2Duo would work in my Inspiron 6400, they were happy to tell me despite there being no warranty left on the laptop. You might consider calling ASUS and asking them point blank, "Will a Penryn CPU work in my laptop if I have the latest BIOS?"

@mplogic: to eliminate confusion... this was when I upgraded it to a T5500 a few months ago. Original proc was a Core Duo (not Core2) and was utterly pathetic.

Thanks for the input. Processor compatibility is chipset dependent. It's been my experience, as long as you have the correct socket type, which can be confusing as some are very similar, and the FSB speed matches, it should work. Usually if you google your specific model and the processor you are thinking about you'll find someone who has tried it already. :)

I've done a good amount of research online regarding penryn in my notebook and the consensus is that the machine will run but the multipliers will be capped under the rated clockspeed. Even with custom BIOSes, the systems cannot natively run at Penryn rated speeds. People have posted responses to their inquiries made to Asus and Asus always responds with "CPU upgrades are not supported." I guess I'm really limited to the T7500 then...
