Cleaning out the "spares" time...
Intel Desktop Board D5400XS "Skull Trail". Intel's attempt at the ultra-ultra high end. Dual socket, fastest bus, four PCIe x16 slots supporting both ATI CrossFire and nVidia SLI (before it was common to have one board support both.) Complete with two Xeon E5472 CPUs (quad-core, 3.0 GHz, 1600 MHz bus, the second-to-highest CPU this board can take.) Uses FB-DIMMs, which, thankfully for you, I am including four 2 GB FB-DIMMs for a total of 8 GB of RAM. Asking $450 for the set.
Intel Server Board S5520HC - basically a server-board version of what was in the just-retired "Nehalem" Mac Pro. Capable of running 5500-series and 5600-series Xeons (dual core to six-core.) Officially states it only supports up to the 95W "X-series" CPUs, but I am running another one just fine with the 130W "W-series" CPUs. (This is the backup board to what's in my workstation - at this point if it breaks, I'll just get a new workstation.) Have the SAS RAID module as well as the RAID Activation Key. Asking $450 for the set, or $250 for the motherboard, $175 for the RAID module, $75 for the RAID Activation Key.
I might have some a pair of Xeon X5560 CPUs lying around to go with this (that weren't with the below CPUs.) If so, they would be $100 each if included with the board.
Bunch of CPUs I've collected up and no longer need:
Core 2 Duo E8600 (x2) - $50 each
Core 2 Extreme QX6700 - $150
Xeon X3210 (quad-core, 2.13 GHz, basically a Core 2 Quad, can even be used in the same socket 775 systems ) - $75
Xeon L5240 (x2 - these also work in the Skull Trail board, and are MUCH lower power, but they're also only dual-core, not quad-core.) - $200 each, or $300 for the pair (since they're meant to be used in a dual-socket system.)
Core 2 Duo Mobile T7300 - $25
All prices are shipped in the US. For CPUs, take $5 off, then add actual shipping cost if not in the US, $15 off then add actual shipping cost for the motherboards.
Also willing to trade equivalent-value amount of the above for an OS X Mavericks-capable MacBook/Pro/Air. (My wife's laptop just died. She doesn't need a latest-greatest replacement, just one that can run the latest software.)
