I have a used DroboFS for sale/possible trade (??). The unit does not include any disks - I bought a used server from Ebay and am using that for my storage needs now. It will be reset when sold.
$150 OBO/possible trade (looking for an HD Homerun with DLNA support)
The unit is about 4 years old. It has been in a smoke-free/pet free environment the entire time.
You can mix and match different disks - although I think it tops out at 3TB drives. Works well for backups and holding your files. I used to use it to hold my media.
The unit holds up to 5 3.5" SATA drives. I recommend you use drives rated for a NAS.
I no longer have the original box, manual, or software. You'd need to download the software from Drobo. Works with PC/Mac. You can also access from Linux (Samba), but don't think they have software to control it from Linux.
Marketing info:
-Shares on a Gigabit Ethernet Network - Drobo FS connects directly to your Gigabit Ethernet network for sharing data.
-Protection from up to Two Drive Failures - Enable the dual-drive redundancy option to protect your data from failure of up to two hard drives.
-Supports the Client- Drobo FS supports standard networking protocols allowing access to its data from any Windows, Mac, or UNIX/Linux client
-Self-Healing Technology - When idle, the unit will proactively examine the blocks and sectors on every drive, flagging questionable areas
