Fry's...

I gave 567 for my OEM 6700 at ClubIt I guess I did not do too bad. It has a one year warranty from Intel.

I went to the Fry's in Oxnard since it was too hot for the Woodland Hills location. Same story, no dice until the 7th, I asked about the E63, 64 & 66, said the 7th. Did not bother to ask about the others.

On my way home stoped by a smaller chain store (only a few socal locations) that had E6300's & 6400's in stock, the younger kid at the counter was willing to sell them today and had no idea about the "none available till the 7th"

Rather not get the shop in trouble so...
If you are in Ventura County throw me a PM.

Outpost may as well be newegg when it comes to Fry's. What I mean's you just can't rely on the .com to have stock. And it works both ways. I've gone in and seen some crazy what's a my callit @ Fry's and it's STILL not on the site. With as much stock that store has (tempe, AZ)...it's amazing sometimes.

So who's getting there proc at the Tempe Fry's? I've been out of the loop for a little while and am pretty dang excited to hook up with something worthy of rippin open the pc. Maybe we could all gather down there manana and march for our Conroes now? Eh? :p :p

As for the Proc, I'll be more than satisfied with an e6300. I've got a P180 case and I'm determined to keep it quiet, so HIGH OC ain't the goal. If it hits 2.3, fantastic. I've been runnin' this P4 630 stock for a couple months now...but I did get the itch to hike'r up last night. Small bump to 3.4g's, but it's fun....still slow compared to my old opty 165 tho...ugh! UGH! Who the hell let me sell my gaming rig without throwing a fit!?! I mean, none of you even tried to stop me!

When it comes to the Tempe Fry's, if you think it has *a lot* of stock, you should go to the Thunderbird store ;)

The Tempe Fry's > Thunderbird when it comes to DVDs, music, etc. Thunderbird > Tempe at software, games, computer hardware, networking, tvs, etc., because the store is about 2-3x the size of the Tempe store (since it was an actual store Fry's built, vs. Fry's originally having bought the building the Tempe store is in now).

One thing I like about the Fry's store, is that when it comes to motherboards and such, they keep a lot of stock located above the motherboard display area. So you can see if there's more than simply what's on the actual shelf. Plus, when I was last there checking about Core 2 Duos, I saw a rev 304 BadAxe and rev 302 that I think had been returned. Then, above the display area, were two huge stacks of BadAxes, and they all appeared to be 304 when the sku was visible.

Thats not what I heard. The guy said the E6600 is $379 and will be available.

I'll make some calls tomorrow and find out for sure.

Called the other two Fry's stores in Houston, and they both had E6600's in their "system". Neither store could tell me if they had any in stock. On a whim, called the store I went to Friday and asked the same question. Sure enough they have them in their "system" too.
Problem is, the manager told me they didn't receive any E6600's- and the guy knew what he was talking about.
I conclude that having them "set up in the system" ≠ "having them in the storeroom"
Guess we'll find out in the morning-
The $379 number is what I got as well.

Unless Houston is in Sunnyvale, California....

Fry's started in Cali in 1985, one of their first major pushes has been to us here in Texas (pssst, I live in Sugar Land). We have one just about 5-8 miles away.

There are a lot of Geeks in Central Arkansas who'd love to have a Fry's! Heyyyy Fry's employes reading this, HELLLLOOO!

Correct, in the system means they have the SKU, and availability info in the computer system. That's all. :(

I stopped by the Fry's near my house (Campbell, Ca.) and they said they would have both the 6600 and 6700 in stock on Monday (he actually said he already had them but couldn't sell them yet).

Fry's - Fountain Valley, CA has 6300, 6400 in stock Might receive 6600-6700 on monday morning

Just called Frys San Marcos,CA and theyre only selling the e6400 with the bad axe, for 500$ The guy really didnt even know what I was talking about buts it weird that they only haev the e6400

Anyone manage to stop by one of the Fry's today and see if they have the E6600 & 6700 & 6800?

As of this morning, Fry's in Renton, WA has never heard of the Conroe or any new Intel chip whatsoever.

I have to wonder if one of their poorly dressed sales associates wandered from the vacuum cleaner department over to the CPU sales department.

Somehow, that sounds just like Frys...

Just got back from the store an hour ago, didn't have any E6600s. Only 6300 and 6400

Just got back from the Woodland Hills Fry's. They only had the 6300 and 6400. The sales guy had no idea when they were receiving the other ones (6600, 6700, 6800). I saw him check stock at all of the Fry's, and none of them had those models in stock (Oxnard, Fountain Valley, Burbank, etc).

Bummer I was going to head to the woodland hills store in a few hours, guess i'll try the oxnard store since i need to pick up some other stuff. Sounds like they prob wont have the 66, 67 or 68.

The PC Club in Thousand Oaks only has the Retail 6300 & 6400, e.t.a for the other models is the 14th.

been to and on the phone with Austin, TX Fry's all day.... E6300s were there around 10am... E6400s rolled in around noon.... they are neither confirming nor denying if they will be getting the 66/67/68s in today (though they have said they will set them aside for people off the truck if you ask them to do so and get a "quote")...

I'll post back if i hear anything... but it's not looking too promising...

This is the typical marketing ploy of an industry leader... just dredging up bad feelings but higher prices by trickling items into the market.

Ah well. Just came in with a 6400. No 6600's as predicted, and no 6700's as promised  Dude totally misled me about having the 6700 in the back.

Going to see what this puppy can do. Might be enough to lull me into waiting for quad core- or at least until 30% markups go away.

Just ran 3dmark and pifast concurrently (at stock), and watched cpu temp. Never broke 35°C

Can't wait to get this thing OC'd to see what she'll do.

I noticed the C2D heatsink has copper, where the stock Celery hs is aluminum only.
Also looks like they got a half decent polish job on the copper. Good job intel.
