I went and bought a Q6600 + ECS combo and when I opened the box the mobo was dead because it had 3 bent pins. Frys won't replace it because they say I did the damage and they didn't cause it :( they say go through the manufacture but its going to cost me more to ship it then the mobo is actually worth . Any ideas on what I should do ? could my Credit Card company back me up ? Any info would help :(

FYI: I don't want the mobo i just want to resell it .

That sucks. I'd keep on having Fry's replace it, though. Maybe contact corporate. BBB after that if they still won't fix it. Dunno.

Resale value approaches zero, though? I suspect a lot of the ones they sold ended up in a dumpster somewhere.

the funny thing was that there was a pile of them in the corner and I told him "look at all the returns, their Quality Control has problems" and he said "go through the manufacture" over and over again.

well I contacted chase bank and they said the could do a chargeback but I don't want to do that because they not it on your account :( maybe its not worth it :(

Call and talk to the store manager

tell him you will do a charge back if he doesn't replace the motherboard

Its ok, these motherboards blow anyway. Fry's seriously made ECS a fortune selling this many mobos...

But seriously Fry's should replace it... It's their fault.

Don't deal with the paid by the hour lamer lackes
Go to the store manager explain it to them.
Tell them you are going to have your CC stop payment.
Call you CC on your cell while you are going to the store and get one of their managers on the line with you.
Explain the deal and have them on the cell while you are talking to the store manager.
Let them know their customers will not eat shit just because they sell it

I talked to both the computer department manager and the store manager and they both told me the same thing.

i'll say go back there and tell the manager you'll stop payment if they wont replace it. thing is damage so you deserve a replacement. don't leave till they replace it. Fry's customer service SUCK BALLS!!! when i go there and needed help it takes forever before someone will help me, so i don't go there anymore unless there's a really good deal or i know what i need.

Unbend the pins and exchange it.

Some moron on ebay sent me a LGA775 motherboard with the plastic protect cover jammed between the metal rentention clip and pins. I was able to unbend the pins but the board still didn't work. He gave me a refund. You should be able to make it look perfect with an x-acto knife.

Unbend the pins and exchange it.

thats what i would do.

although i returned and exchanged motherboards at my frys without any hassle.

i also need to go back to frys to exchange the cooler master case i got. big dent in the side of the case when i took it out.

Do a chargeback. My wife worked for one of the 2 main card processors, and it does not count against you if you chargeback. The funding to Fry's goes into a reserve account and it's their responsibility to resolve the dispute.

Some Credit cards give you a warranty on things you buy with the card. Check to see if you have a warranty on items you buy.

Fry's person in charge position tends to get rotated around on an hourly bases, so you might have better luck going back another time.

hahaha... I would have laughed in their FACE if they tried to sell me that shit. Take them back to the display area.. and ask them who bent the pins on the display boards. That's an absolutely ridiculous excuse. I can't believe you walked out of there like they wanted you to. Shit, yesterday I convinced them to give me the black friday E6850/Abit IN9 Max black friday deal on saturday.

they will walk on you if you let them. It's only like a 15 dollar piece of hardware anyway.
