well, i don't know anywhere else you can buy these b&m besides fry's so here it goes...feel free to add cus i really don't have that much info. if you are ordering from the egg or anywhere else that charges tax if you have to pay shipping on top of that you might as well drop by a fry's and pick it up. one guy on the boards said fry's doesn't start selling these until 7/24 and they didn't let me buy one on 7/21 when i went in cus the system won't let them sell it yet. they have them though. the best deal is if you can order online and not pay tax AND shipping.

one los angeles fry's (forget which one) has 55 of the e6850's and no other locations have them. manhattan beach has stock of the e6750's. if you call or walk in they can look up the inventory by store location. fyi - usually when fry's has stock of something they have a sh1t ton of it.

e6550 189.99 i think
e6750 209.99
e6850 289.99

q6600 still 530.00 and probably all b3 stepping for now
q6700 don't know if the real retail is 530 or 350?? but all g0 stepping

Woot yup on the way to the store now. Pretty much what I was going to get from newegg anyway, but now I don't have to wait for shipping and I get a free motherboard.

Hm, was thinking about grabbing an IB9 for my E6300 when I replace it with a Quad.... the ECS I got w/my E6300 runs my HTPC pretty damn well though. Which ECS is up, the VIA 900, or the 880?

What a sweet deal, free mobo, no ship time... Kickass!!! Why haven't they dropped the price on their procs only?

just called 2 local LA fry's. i had the guys check the cage and both said they only have the SLUM (old) versions. probably all the same stock at the stores since they probably have 1 central warehouse.

i wonder what they are atually selling just the processor for? i'd rather buy it for 10$ less and not have the motherboard.

i called in and only fountain valley (in la and oc) has them in stock like you said..they might have shitload of it...lol

Purchased a Q6600 (B3) bundle from Fry's (Manhattan Beach) today for $299. Here is a link to the ad for the NorCal Fry's, but the prices apparently still apply in the SoCal Fry's:

16965333

The receipt shows the Q6600 at $266.92 with the free motherboard at $33.07 - I'm hoping maybe I can somehow return just the motherboard? ;) I did ask if I could purchase just the chip for $266.92; unfortunately, the chip purchased alone is still sold at $565~.

The employee assured me that they are pulling from the same inventory regardless if if you purchase the bundle or the chip separately. He also told me that they've been selling them pretty rapidly all day - in fact, there were two other guys buying the same bundle right when I got there. I think they have something like 10 left at that store as of about 4:00pm.

In case it's of any interest, the pack date on my SL9UM is: 07/11/07

Fry's won't let you just return the motherboard. I've tried in the past.
What's wrong with ECS? I've decided to keep running on ECS once i found out ECS OEMs for Abit and host of other brand names. They are solid boards.

ECS is crap IMO. Fried 4 boards trying to flash them. Lockups and restarts and BSOD.

i kind of preferred a g0 q6600 but i can't wait anymore. i've been waiting to build my rig since april and i have everything except for a processor. i bought an e6850 from the fountain valley store, so they had 55 yesterday but at least one less now  i'm way too tired to start building my rig so i'll have to wait until after work tomorrow

i had the guy at the fountain valley store check the cage for the quads. he said they are all SL9UM steppings, including the ones that came in yesterday. i'm pretty sure all of the socal fry's only have the SL9UM steppings atm. u can only buy the quad and the ECS MB for the $299 deal, otherwise the quad by itself is like $530.
