Hey, I have a problem. I plugged in my front case USB [probably wrong] not in all the way. When I turned it on, the base of the pins started on fire. There was embers on base of pins. Help? LoL :0. Would this have fried the fromt usb ports? Because I cannot get either 5/6 or 7/8 to work at all. It was working before, but when I took them out before I could never get it to work. Ahhhhhhhh...

If you didn't smoke the chip, you smoked traces on the mobo. Or else you just made the connector inop, can you swap that out? I've put things in backwards lots of times, we have a computer where someone forced something in and losened up the guts of the connector. Didn't know it caused flames.

I have caused smoke before, never flames. Congrats.
 
I would say that those ports are toast man...literaly. BTW, do you have pics of the burned traces? I have seen entire mobos catch fire and kill add-on cards and CPU, but never have I heard of the front I/O connecters catching fire. You might could hook up the ports to some new connectors and try that but I don't see why you would want to.
 
That seriously not normal. I would definatly call an exorcist.
 
It wasnt fire, it was embers at the base of the IO Pins, or some of them. Do the 7/8 ports route through the 5/6 ports? I'll check if I can swap them, but yeah it was unerving to say the least. The last time I smelt that plastic burn smell I had fried my mobo [x2] :0. Who needs it anyway, damn..

PS; i'll check for burn traces, and take pics if they're spiffy :p
