• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Seems there are quite a few people who are wondering where the edit button is in that section. Could you sticky that information there so people stop asking that question?

... or even better still enable the capacity for people responding to threads to edit their posts when the need arises, because there's absolutely no bloody earthly reason why they shouldn't be able to! ;)

Don't be douche and get it right the first time. ;)

Seriously, there is no edit for a reason. If you want to start a fight in that forum we want to be able to hold you to what you post.

heh heh....

Mate, I'll start a fight anywhere if I get riled up, and NEVER back down on my word! I grew up in a fucken rough neighbourhood!

Seriously!

More seriously still, though, I'd contend that the reasoning you express is just plain 'wrong' on so many levels it ain't funny!

For starters, plenty of people simply don't 'see' what they've typed in an editing box as well as they can see and review it on the printed page or in viewing format. Errors slip through. Additional thoughts at times come to mind just after the 'Submit' button has been clicked on and people like to avoid the embarrassment of double posting....

I'd suspect that the 'need' for having it actually exceeds the 'need' for not having it!

Then, of course, there are the other implications. You have to stop people from altering their posts in that section but it's cool if they do it in other sections? You have to make the assumption that if the capacity to edit posts is provided then people will inevitably alter their comments to further their arguments? Wow!

Anyways, that's just reflection on my part. I sympathise with the lots of decent forummers who are inconvenienced and insulted by a measure designed to control the behaviour of an occasional idiot who might or might not pop up!

:D

Edit: There ya go! Had to correct a typo which I missed first time past. I'm trying my best to avoid the 'preview' page, because I've been shaped and using post preview takes for ages! :)

The reasoning behind it is sound.
Someone makes a point, they can not jump sides on an issue that is discussed.
Also, there is a preview button. For me I do not use it anywhere else in the forums, but will when I am in Front Page News.

If someone needs to add to there post just quote your self and add to it or just reply again quickly. No one is going to yell or mock you for spelling/grammar errors since we know everyone here is human, and they are bound to make a mistake.

If you have never noticed, that forum is a basic offshoot of the front page and is run and policed by Kyle personally. It is not run like any of the other forums and has it's own set of rules. The requirement is to check and preview your posts before you hit submit 'cause you will not get another chance to change it. That knowledge should suffice.

I used to mod news forum at a site of 10,000 and the first time I came here I knew why the edit button was missing and consider it prudent even if a PITA now and then.

I think Kyle and Major have voiced their opinions. So before anyone wants to pick a fight, go somewhere else. The admins have seen my request and know my concerns for the Front Page News subforum, so I am locking this now. There is no need for anymore discussion.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, it is noted.
