I want to mount an LCD in the front 3 drive bays of my computer. What is a good monitor for this, and since I'm lazy and don't have the case yet, what are the dimensions (X and Y) of the three drive bays. Thanks.

I was thinking more along the lines of a graphical LCD, like to use as a secondary monitor for stats and whatnot.

for 3 mount bays..

a psone LCD screen is perfect and what ayou are looking for...

mine looks great on the side of my window...

blah

bye!

I used a PSOne LCD (the Sony model) and modded it to use the RGB output from a video card. Turned out pretty well I think:

Damn, that does look nice. So how did you go about mounting it? just curiouse. Thanks.

LIS is the worst LCD you can buy

look at crystalfontz for the best LCDs. or you can get the PSOne and do that, but thats more for 3.5 bays and requires much more work if im not mistaken (and a good/extra video card)

Malor- I just used double sided sticky tape around the edges of the bezel to mount it. It's a tight fit but it doesnt make contact with the case. It took me about 4 hours all told to get it in and functional, and about another 4 hours of forums surfing to figure out what was wrong with my Powerstrip setup. All the guides out there are lacking in one or two details and they are hard to sift through IMO. I got the LCD on Ebay for 40 bucks and spent another 60 on another PCI card to drive it (I already use dual monitors on my main card.)

If you give it a shot I'd be glad to help out if you get stuck.

Pwnisher : How did you get it to display that i am confused... like did you run a second vga card from your computer and tell it to display only that on the lcd? cuz i wanted to do something like that but have a video clip that would loop.. but i have no idea on how to do it... ?

run tvout from your vid card in through the back of your case to the lcd. This way it is treated as a second desktop and if you use powerstrip or something you can put whatever you want on the screen.

GnG- It is a 3rd monitor, the display is powered by an ac adapter, and fed by a RAdeon 9200 PCI card. Using Ultramon you can control different wallpapers on each desktop, screensavers etc. With it you could do just as you want- make a video clip, flash animation etc. and have it run on that monitor. It's all VGA, not tv-out, the picture quality is way better with the VGA mod.

A sample tutorial can be found here at Kick A$$ AMD

I'll post some pictures later and try to show it off a little.

Yeah if you can post some pictures and stuff that would be great... cuz basicly my whole mod will revolve around this... and gettin it to work just right... so any help will be greatly appreciated...

I was messing around with my camera's movie mode and took a short 1:40 clip of the screen in action and converted it to a .wmv file with the WinXP movie maker tool. The lighting was as best as I could get it and the quality of the picture does not do the scree justice, but you can see it in action. It's on my ISP webspace and hopefully they won't kill my account for hosting it, we'll see how many people DL it. :D

Do a right click on the link and "Save As" and hopefully it will work.

LCD Movie

I'm going to try and take some better pictures of it now as well.

Perhaps I can do a write up of some kind, I didn't take pictures while I was going at it, but I could improvise a bit and come up with something useful I think.
