Hi Guys,

Excuse my ignorance... I know the best way to install any OS is to do a clean install from zero but I'm wondering if upgrading from XP will be just fine?

I have ton of stuff installed I won't like to have to deal with again (For now).

What's your experience so far?

Thank You,

Upgrade will be much less stable than a fresh install.

If you do an upgrade, do not complain about slowness or issues as most likely they will be from the upgrade process :p

I see... I was afraid to hear that... but I guess I already knew the answer :D

I was just hoping to hear a " No clean installation needed, Vista knows it all" shame on me for being lazy :p

Thanks guys...

Unfortunately, if you have the upgrade version. a "Dirty Install" is all you can do.

MS took away the ability to do a clean upgrade install with Vista.

No, I don't know what they were thinking either.

Yeah I'm kicking myself in the teeth for ordering the upgrade version. I thought it would simply identify you as an "upgrade" by using your XP activation code or something along those lines.

Sucks... should have researched it more.

I would ALWAYS do a clean install. Always. It's quick and easy.

I'm used to formatting and reinstalling windows every few months anyways. It keeps things running thier best.
