My mother's PC is a Pentium 3. Over 15 years old. I'm giving her an Intel NUC based around an i3-6100U to replace it. I think she'll be pleased at the improvement in performance and not having the huge tower sitting there.
 
That would be one heck of an upgrade! Plus the nuc is small can mount it to the back of a monitor. Keeps things simple and clean.
