I just changed my display setup from a single 28" Hanns-g to two 22" 16:10 Acer X223w screens and am really liking it. I think two smaller screens is better than one big screen for productivity. I was going to buy one more to have a triple setup but didn't know if it was worth it or if it will bother me having a third screen. I don't game anymore, I just do a lot of surfing and schoolwork (programming, database, etc.). I was planning on getting two 24" but almost everything out there is 16:9, which I just cannot stand. The few 24" 16:10 are expensive especially compared to the $132 (tax and shipping included) I paid for these 22" screens.

Anyways just sharing my experience.

With two smaller screens, you generally have more total pixels to work with, and the way the windows interface is written it's easier to deal with 2 maximized programs at once rather than splitting your screen.

However, you do get what you pay for, and those $132 screens of yours have TN panels inside them, which is the crappiest type.

Yes, but the 28" Hanns-g also uses a TN panel and so has every lcd monitor that I have owned, so it's not a big deal to me. Don't get me wrong it did cross my mind to get an ips screen but for what I would use it for it probably isn't worth it.

Did the Hanns G crap out on you? How did you like that monitor?

It did start crapping out on me after about a year, so I have to send it in for RMA. But it was a great monitor, very easy on the eyes for long term use. If I was still in to gaming I would keep it because it was great when I played COD 4 and 5 on it, and I think it is better than using a couple of smaller screens. But for productivy dealing with school or work I think multiple smaller screens is better. I even watched two or three movies on it (even though I hate watching movies on pc's) and it was great. I was going to get a second one but damn they waste a lot of electricity and I wanted a smaller setup.

Ps. I decided to order a third x223w for triple setup, now I need to find me a triple monitor stand.

Two 22'' panels is the sweet spot for me too. Seperate screens offers more versatility IMO, especially Lightroom with the thumbnails on the second screen. It's a little easier for web work to, code on one side and the page on the other.

...and since the native res is 1680x1050, I can get by with less on the GPU side of things.
