Friends email hacked?

So my friends dad got email from him that he didn't send.

I scanned with MSE, spybot, and Malwarebyetes but nothing came back, any ideas?

The contents of the email header you are looking at can easily be falsified. Just because the message says it came from your friend's email address doesn't mean an email account was actually accessed.

That being said, certainly run through some corrective measures that are within your friend's control. Have your friend run through this sticky in the Networking forum, and also change passwords on all online sites (not just the email account site).
