My friend's computer has been stolen is there anyway to find it if the robber sells it or uses it while going online?

Like by knowing the MAC address or something.

Help us out please.
 
sorry to say it, but if you dont have homeowner's(or renter's) insurance, youre fucked

my place was broken into about 4 years ago and the 5 systems i had here(2 were not mine) were stolen... never seen them again and the police could care less
