So I am currently running my computer caseless and things were going perfectly until today.

I looked at my Vantec fan controller and did something. I can't remember if it was shifting it like an inch, or plugging another fan into it or even nothing, but immediately the leds on the controller on it went off, there was a distinct 'electronic malfunction smell' coming from the crontoller and soon after I got a BSOD saying 'Machine Check Error'. Everything else seems fine on my computer now, except I can't turn the fan controller on, I think I've fried it or something. .Is that what it sounds like?

If its in warranty can I get an RMA? I liked it as a fan controller :(

What likely happened?

Thanks

how many fans did you plug into each channel? is it possible that you overload it more than 18W?

I very much doubt it - I had two fans in, neither of which were high power/cfm.
No cathode lights were installed at the time. . .hmm
