Hi all,
Just an hour ago, i was recently enjoying a game of WoW, when my younger brother comes darting into my room telling me that his PC has just shut itself off, and that there was a funny smell coming from inside.
I went to check up, and the smell was awful, and was definitely coming from the PSU. I removed the PSU, and replaced it with a fully functional Hiper 520W i had spare. Problem now is however, the PC will boot, but shuts down after a short time. When i try entering the BIOS, i can browse around for all of 3 seconds before it locks up and then shuts down shortly after. CPU seems fine, fan is spinning ok, and all other things seem to check out.
I've never had a PSU fry on me before, so i'm unaware of the many symptoms of this type of failure, and the best steps to go about troubleshooting the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
