Last night i went out and bought a new case (Antec P180) and a new Motherboard (Abit IB9). Although i didnt need any of this i bought it to over clock the Processor (Intel Pentium D 805). Although i havent started doing that JUST yet, when i first turned on the PC it started. No big deal. See all i did was transplant what i already had to the new setup. anyways, now when i press the On button it turns the PC on, then off...then on again and resumes. This only happens from a cold boot. Can anyone PLEASE help? Its a bit annoying. Other than that, once its booted up, everything works fine.
 
Mine's been doing that for about 8 months now. No matter if it's stock, underclocked, or overclocked.

Different power supply: still does it

Different motherboard: still does it

Different video card: still does it

So yeah, I'm guessing it's. . .normal? I dunno.
 
Wow, yea man...im so upset by it. Everything works fine and dandy...but jeeez this is annoying! :) Anyone please help us out!

Heres the reply i got from Abit
This is 'normal' behavior for the Asus P5B-dlx, at least for most users. I think it's a byproduct of unrefinement in the facility that recovers the system if it judges a stability (usually OC-related, but not always) issue. The IB9 has a similar issue. Read the user comments on newegg for the IB9. To quote one:

"Pros: when you get it to work its good.

Cons: When you start the computer it will turn off, then turn back on really annoying ... "

Like most shortcomings in several recent abit boards, this may well be caused by a half-baked bios. But in the case of the P5B-dlx, even Asus's generally timely and continual bios releases did nothing to eleviate the condition for most users of the board. Suffice it to say your problem is inherent to the IB9 board, and it may or may not be resolved by changes to the rest of the system or (eventual) bios releases by Abit.
 
pretty standard with the IB9 board

it affects nearly all of them i believe... decent board though if you don't mind the cold boot issue...
