So I helped my friend build his new PC, and got Windows XP Prof. installed on it successfully. When you start from a cold startup (not restart) it also enters this windows and says "Please insert boot disk" right after verifying DMI pool data...
when you restart the machine though, it doesn't run across this problem. Any ideas?

Thanks all for your help in advance!

Yep we tried changing the order, but that still hasn't changed it. It's weird...only happens during a cold start, not a restart...anybody?

Thanks for your help guys!

Something exactly like what you described has happened to me.

Did you install windows while there was another installation of windows on a different hard drive? I had a problem once where I wanted to install XP on my new Raptor hard drive, and the OS was still installed on my other hard drive. When I installed it to the Raptor, it would still try to boot off the old hard drive even though I changed the boot order in the BIOS. I ended up having to remove Windows from the old hard drive and then reformat and reinstall on the raptor to get it to boot properly.

Your situation could be different though. Make sure your boot order is correct first of all :)
