Fresh Install + SATA problems

I got a new SATA HD and quickly installed it as a secondary hard drive. My BIOS and Windows both detect it fine. I can successfully store files on it. All is well.

So now I decide I want to use that HD as my only hard drive. I go to shuttle's website, read the manual, download the drivers, and make a floppy.

The first thing I tried was to just boot from the XP CD and hope it works. Windows quickly informed me that it couldn't find any hard drives attached which is fine. I expected as much.

So then I follow Shuttle's instructions. I hit F6 when the Windows Setup first starts. It soon after asks me which drivers I want to include. There are 3 choices (XP, 2000, XP64) of which I select the XP option. Setup then indicates it is copying the files (including m5287.sys). I then create my partitions, choose the partition I want to install on, and continue. At this point Windows starts copying files. It quickly tells me that I it can't find the file m5287.sys. I find that a bit odd seeing as how it just used that file a little while ago. With little other option I choose to ignore the file. After it reboots it causes a blue screen of death when it tries to boot from the HD.

Now my guess is that the blue screen is a result of the driver not being properly installed and that the driver isn't being properly installed because it can't copy that file. The problem, of course, is that I can't help setup find the file. I mean it's right there on the floppy disk. It recognized the file a minute back...why is it having troubles at that stage of the setup?

Has anyone ever encountered this before? Anyone have any words of advice? My PC's listed in my sig. The HD is a 750 GB Seagate.

You are leaving the floppy disk in the drive, right?
When it first asks for the drivers Windows is only making note which drivers you want to include and where they are.
Leave the diskette in.
It's not till much later that Windows actually installs said drivers from the A: drive.
Don't remove the disk till the reboot sequence begins.
