Freezing :(

Hi just built a new comp -

Opteron 144 (CAB2E) // Epox EP-9NPA+ nForce4 // Freezer 64 Pro // Hiper Type R // GeIL 2GB PC3200 Dual Channel // Sapphire X800 GTO²

Everything is at stock.

3DMark05 freezes after about a minute, and 3DMark2001SE freezes on test 15 out of 17. When booting into Windows, sometimes it freezes, and also randomly froze when installing some software.

Graphics card is running at about 33 degrees.
CPU running at about 30 degrees.

Done Memtest - no errors after one pass. Passed SuperPI 32M. Passed Prime95 for about an hour.

In CPUZ the voltage seems to change - going down as far as 1.48v up to 1.51v. - Is this a problem? Bad PSU?

I'm totally stumped, and annoyed! :( Any ideas what the problem could be? I think I have all the latest drivers.
 
I'm no professional on the AMD side (especially Opterons), but when I read "5.1V" on your core the first thing that pops into my head is "HOLY CRAP!!" Check your PSU man, that aint right.
 
That voltage range is fine for a 1.5v core.

That's a maximum deviation from spec of 1.3%.

Oh yeah, that could make a difference :D

What PSU do you have? I'm thinking that is the culprit.

EDIT - Sorry, didn't realize that "Hyper" was the PSU, never heard of that brand. I would definetely try a new PSU, I've never even heard of those guys.
 
They are popular in the UK, and are supposedly decent PSU's.

Anyhow, I don't have another PSU to check, so I'm still lost as to what I can do. :(
 
I don't like bumping but please help, because I'll need to replace the part which is faulty asap.

To add more problems - when I booted up today it just stayed on the Windows loading screen for ages; so I restarted. When it got into Windows the time/date is now wrong - and it said drivers for my USB wireless adaptor were corrupted.

Something is seriously wrong; it also hung when trying to load the new drivers.

I think everything points a faulty mobo; are these the symptoms I would expect to get if this was the case?
 
I think I've found the problem - at least I hope so. Removed one of the RAM dimm's. Got through 3DMark01SE and 3DMark05 successfully - scored 19566 and 4311 in those (I think that's ok considering everything is at stock (still 1.8Ghz)?).

I'll have to do more testing with real games yet though.
 
Let us know, test each stick individually to see if you get any errors.

If you find out which stick is failing try these solutions. Give the stick some more volts. If you have it running stock at 2.6V try bumping it to 2.7-2.75V and see if it still fails. Another reason it could fail is because you are running the RAM too aggressively. Back off the timings a bit and see what happens.

Before you said you found your problem I was going to suggest something else. I assumed (and that's got me in a lot of trouble lately) that since you have an Opteron you were overclocking. I was going to suggest that you make sure you have the LDT set to 4X.
