Freezer trick method for 9800 pro?

Arrgh bought this 9800pro and it's already unstable. It's overheating and and restarts my computer after getting too hot (looping 3Dmark05, BF2 demo, HL2 single player).

Just wondering how I can go about removing the stock heatsink (built by ATi)? Does the freezer trick still work? When I got the card it was pretty dusty, so I'm thinking of cleaning it all off and applying some AS5
 
No pins going through the card so I'm guessing that epoxy is the only thing holding it in place.
 
Yeah that sounds right. So when I reattacht the heatsink use a mixture of Artic Epoxy and AS5?
