So I am pretty sure Catalyst 15.7 doesn't support it yet as there is no mention of it in their release notes. Does anyone have ANY idea if AMD is even working on making this work and when it's coming out?

I've been team red now for my last 3 video cards but I might have to bite the bullet and go team green and pay a stupid premium for g-sync monitors but in the long run it'll be worth it if AMD doesn't add windowed mode support for games. I need this since I play ALL my games in windowed mode since I frequently alt-tab.

I doubt it. Never made CF work with windowed. But maybe they will, just doesn't seem likely.

Out of curiosity, what is the draw of running games in windowed mode?

for turn-based multi-player it is particularly handy. allows you to be doing other stuff whilst waiting on the other guy.

Also, how would you expect to Freesync/G-sync to work with windowed games ? Let's say you run two instances of the same game. Should it set the screen refresh to 35Hz (because one of the two games runs at 35FPS), or maybe to 43Hz (because the second runs at 43FPS) ? Or 60Hz, which is what probably the desktop is set to ?

People do use more than one monitor

Nvidia enabled G-Sync windowed mode starting with 353.06 last month.

Which sets the framerate according to the current window only. So in multi-monitor setups, all other monitors will run at desktops default rate (60Hz in most cases) = tearing in any other window or any other monitor, except the current window. Still useless for multiple games running at once in windowed mode.

I didn't say anything about playing multiple games on different monitors.

Windowed is great for games like GTA5 when you're joining a lobby and sometimes it can take over 60 seconds to connect, or when you're playing a MOBA for the first time and want to look up builds on the fly. I've done it lots when playing a game and searching through walkthroughs or youtube videos to get past a difficult section or when I'm just lazy and want someone to hand hold me through a game.

Or other times when playing games like Civ online, while waiting for other players to move. No, I don't need freesync for turn based RTS games but I do need them for when I play other games.
