'Free Stuff' forums should show which countries are valid

The 'Free Stuff' forum should force users to show in their thread topics, if the deals are available to only US residents, or also to Canadian residents, or the entire world, etc.

Most are US-only so they should at least just have [US] at the beginning of the thread title, in my opinion.

I hope someone actually reads this, and I'm sure some will agree with me on this one :)

vBulletin3 is quite flexible, but does not offer the option to "force" a thread topic such as you would like.

Furthermore, hardforum.com is US-based and the majority of members are from the US. It would be impractical to try to impose such constraints to accommodate non-US members, although I do agree it would be a nice courtesy if thread starters would include any country or other restrictions in the freebies they post. :)

Even though I live in the US, I have to agree. How about making it a sticky or something?

Actually, I think most of the freebies posted are US-only because US members found them "locally".

Yes, it would be nice if they know that an offer is US-only that they post that info, but odds are they don't. And someone posting a feebie/hotdeal isn't expected to research that for you. If you are from another country and visiting a US-based forum, then I would say it's up to you to research an offer's availability in your own country.

I tend to look at every freebie offer as YMMV. You might be able to sign up for it. You might get it. I don't think the original poster should have to research every possibility just so a few people aren't inconvenienced. The stuff is free, after all, so it's not like you are losing anything in the deal.

Not to nitpick, but I wouldn't really call it research. Example. Down at the bottom of the page, in very clear words, it says "Offer good in the U.S. only while supplies last."

If you are posting a free deal like that, I'd like to think you read the fine print, to check for things like privacy concerns, etc. As a result, you'd be able to catch that the offer is only good in the US, and should say so.

If you have any reasonable objections, make them known, but I don't see how this is going to inconvenience anyone posting free stuff deals.

It may not always be that easy though =\ On some, it could be in the fine print in some user agreement thing they have to scroll through... ideally, it would be nice but if someone is giving you the information for free stuff, I dont think it to be fair to ask them to explain it.. however it would be nice..

I see a lot of Canadians here as well. I belive PS-Rage lives in Canada and he's one of the admins. I also ocassionaly see some Euorpeons.

Also keep the guests in mind.

Exactly. Also, bear in mind that this is a suggestion, and the world doesn't entirely revolve around the US, even though yes yes, I understand that it has one of the highest Internet population; Canada isn't far behind, though, and our percentage of people connected to the Internet is higher than the US.

The clear majority of the members are from the U.S. probably in the 90% range, so we base the content of the forums by the existing laws of the U.S......as far as running this site, we tend to cater to the majority. I would expect the same when I visit web sites based in other countries :)

ok well this was just a friendly suggestion; I don't want to start a flame war or anything :) if it's not taken, then sure that's fine with me but I'm happy that at least I threw the idea out there for others to think about :)
