Free online storage solutions

Anyone have suggestions for free online storage solutions? I would like to be able to backup sensitive data that i dont want to lose online. I suppose i could just use a large e-mail account like Gmail or Spymac and send the files as attachments but i thought i'd check and see if any of you knew of better alternatives?

What do you use to backup your data online?
 
Sorry, but my best suggestion is that you not store "sensitive data" online and certainly not at any free sites that aren't using secure encryption.

Its not sensitive in the sense that i dont want anyone else to see it really, its just sensitive in the fact i dont want to lose it.

I was just wondering if there were any sites that offer a certian amount of free online storage.
 
I have a few websites. I think everyone does, these days. As a part of the hosting packages, I have FTP access to the server where the sites live. All of my sites are on the same server, so when I FTP in I'm at a root directory and there are subdirectories for the root of each of my websites.

I don't think that co-hosting setup like this is at all uncommon.

In the root directory of my FTP space, I've created a few extra directories. They don't pertain to any website, and are accessible only by FTP. I bought WebDrive from South River Technologies. It installs a file system driver that lets me map the FTP site to a lettered drive on my computer. Bang; drive W: is now over at ftp://www.mywebsite.com/.

I doubt I'll ever use all the storage that my hosting packages provide me, so I can consume the extra allotment by backing up stuff to W: . Best of all, it's visible to me wherever I go -- at work, travelling, at home.
