Context:
Looking to replace my 7 year old 4-bay Synology NAS. I'd like to use the opportunity to explore and learn Free NAS along with Plex. I Currently have a Fractal Node 804 which is in use as a gaming box, but interested in other chassis that aren't rack-based and have external hot-swap bays. Also asking in advance for Mid-range raid controller, as I might need one.
Regarding the chassis, I did a bunch of googling and haven' really been finding what I'm looking for. I'm assuming there might be some indie/custom case manufactures I'm not finding that may be right.
Shortlist:
-- Discreet / well designed - It will sit in my living room, no space to hide it.
-- Space for at least 8 3.5" drives, hot swappable if possible.
-- Size Micro ATX or ATX or E-ATX is ok!
-- I'll be eventually I'll be starting with 4x 12tb or 14tb drives.
