What exactly does this "extend"?

Charmin has rolls of toilet paper larger than the standard size (thicker sheets) and don't fit all roll holders. This one makes the roll stick further out so they will fit.

I got my two last week. That was quick! Now all I have to do is buy some mega rolls to use them with. I wonder if the rolls will fit in that pretty TP container I have in the bathroom...
