Free Calendar Program for Windows?

Can you recommend one? Not interested in anything Google calendar related and I'm not liking Windows Live Mail. There's Sunbird but it looks like it's dead as it's still in beta and hasn't been updated in a year

What were those applications missing that you needed, and/or what turned you off of those applications?

Bingo. What are you wanting out of it. One my wife uses a lot for just basic reminders is rainlender. It puts a calendar on the desktop + tasks and one other category that I can't remember
