Free Autocheck

I got my report today... thanks a car i was thinking of buying has an odometer issue!

might be they replaced it because the other one stop working. you might want to confront the person or company trying to sell it and show them the report and have them explain. you might be able to get the vehicle at a lower price because of the evidence you found on it. good luck on your hunt for a newer car.

i also read in Consumer Reports that not all the information that these companies provide are the full facts about the vehicle. some times even if the vehicle has been in a accident it might not show up in the report. they proved this by using multiple vehicles they found on ebay that listed the problems, but didnt show it in the reports. but at any rate it will at least give you some sort of idea of what you might or might not know what your getting yourself into.

The report is just a survey but not a replacement for a full pre purchase inspection.

My car hit deer before and the previous owner fixed it but there was no record of it on Autocheck report. It has to be reported by some agency (cops, etc) in order to show up. You can take it to a shop and have it fixed without it ever showing up on the reports.

A well trained mechanic will know how to tell if the car has been in an accident so get the inspection!

Most obvious signs of an accident is damage to the frame and to see that you would need to get under the car. Other things you can do is tracing the body of the car with a magnet to see if they used non-ferrous clay, listening to the valve train with a stethoscope, check the cylinder pressures with a gauge, and of course gunning the car to see the 0-60 speed before you finish the test drive. :) [just kidding on the last one]

Of the 2, which is better and more accurate, AutoCheck or CarFax?

out of the 2, id say both would give you about the same answer, because it is all based on a trust system. but as ebolamonkey is giving us unlimited use so that he is getting his money's worth out of what he has paid for, for free to us to use. i wouldnt care where i got my check because its free. thanks again ebolamonkey.

:p

Still got about 2 weeks worth of free reports. :)

Best thing is to ask for a free report and Pay for a Quality Pre-purchase inspection.

***BTW***, make sure your VIN# is VALID BEFORE giving them to me. You can just type it into Google.com and from there you will get a link to Carfax which will show you that it has X amount of records on it. If you don't know some of the letters or numbers figure them out before you send them to me.

I am offering free reports NOT free guess/checking services. Do your homework, come prepared.

:)

Remember to give me your e-mail address in your msg for a request. The report is in HTML and I have no realistic way of sending that on [H] via msg.

Thanks! This is definitely similar to CarFax. My state (TN) apparently reports emissions testing and I can see where I failed once and was tested 5 days later, other than that nothing else is showing up if ya know what I mean.

i wouldnt mind a check, but ive had my truck for 7 years and it runs like new still... if it does have a bad history it hasn't hurt the truck, so i'll stay away from this freebie and let others have the fun

Got mine. Says my car is good but im expecting a title of destruction in the mail any day now.

Maybe AutoCheck will update your car's status after the title has been sent and AC has been informed (however long that takes).

FINAL week of FREE Reports! Request them while you still can!

PM w/:

VIN# & your e-mail address to get a report.

thanks again ebolamonkey , at least i found out the guy who was selling the car this time was telling the truth. i sure hope everyone has gotten to use your service. and i hope you got the monies worth out of it.

Much appreciated, I received mine and got some information that was defiantly unknown at the time of purchase. Thanks alot!

Close to the subscription expire! Which means this is the LAST week to run FREE reports! Get your requests in while you still can!

i wonder how many people are going to wait till it is the last day, lol, or come on here saying" Dang, i missed it" even though you have been doing this for about 3-4 weeks now. by the way, what is the last day?

Expires: 6/20/2009 - So 3 days left including today assuming that I can still run reports on the 20th. If not then 2 Days left.

I've been doing this for nearly 2 Months or 8 Weeks!!!. Thread started back on 4/22/2009.

An interesting fact. Back in 2005 there was a Carfax report thread that ran for about 1 Month or 4 Weeks with 5000 or so views and nearly 100 replies. This might be due to the fact that back then the Economy was doing relatively better than it is today and buying a car is probably much lower on the list of priorities for fiscal year 2009. The other possibility is that back in 2005 the people bought the cars that they were going to keep for 5-6 years and didn't need to purchase another car and therefore would not need a used vehicle history report. It is very unlikely that people are buying tons of NEW cars this year which also precludes the need for a USED car report. :)
